Today was the third day of week 5! It was pretty cool and cloudy today, but luckily we didn't get much rain. Today in the lesson campers focused on strengthening their riding skills. Many of them were able to unclip from their leaders! Our unmounted activity today was leading in the round pen. Both groups worked with Pete. We also tie-dyed t shirts, which campers will get back tomorrow. We ended the day with many games of Hangman and Wordle at camp! See you tomorrow for the last day.
Happy Tuesday! The weather cooled off today, which means that both groups were able to ride in the outdoor arena. Today in the lesson campers focused on trotting, two-point, and steering. Everyone looked really good! Our unmounted activity today was enrichment feeding (treat finding). Campers hid carrots and horse treats under cones in the round pen, and then we let a horse loose to find them. Group 1 used Princess, and group 2 used Zorro. After that we made cards for our sponsors and played games at camp until the end of the day.
Today was the first day of week 5, which means summer session is over halfway through! We had another hot day today, so Group 1 rode in the Murdock arena after getting settled at camp. Luckily group 2 was able to ride outside later in the day. Our unmounted activity today was Grooming. Group 1 used Zorro, and Group 2 used Dancer. Campers also decorated wooden horse shoes which they will get back on Thursday with a photo of their favorite horse. After our arts and crafts we drew on Molly's shed with chalk. It looks really good! Because it was so hot, we all decided that playing in the sprinkler was a good way to end the day. See you tomorrow!
Today was the last day of week 4! Our unmounted activity today was leading. Group one worked with Pete, and group two worked with Loki. Everyone did really well! During the lesson campers focused on balance and strengthening their skills. Because it was raining, we chose to spend the rest of the day colouring and playing games at base camp. Today was the third day of camp! It was a little chilly this morning, but everyone warmed up by the time the second class rode. Our unmounted activity today was drawing on our horses with chalk and learning how to give them baths! We also made cards for our sponsors, and had a piggy-back race. During the lesson we focused on weaving cones and riding in circles around obstacles. Campers also got to help feed our horses lunch! we all had so much fun today. See you all tomorrow for the last day!
Today was the last day of camp for this week! Our unmounted activity was painting and learning to bathe our horses. Group one worked with Sherman, and Group two worked with Malakai. We all enjoyed the water! We also made cards for our sponsors, and campers got back their t shirts and horse shoes. We ended the day with sprinklers and otter pops. Have a good summer!
Today's weather was a little cooler, and everyone felt better because of it. However it's still too warm to ride outside, so we rode the covered Murdock arena and then went on a short trail ride. Our unmounted activity today was leading - Group 1 used Pete, while group 2 used Loki. We also tie-dyed t-shirts and played in the sprinklers!
